In Minecraft's early development there was an idea to make a buddy AI assistant that would talk to players, build houses and farms, and help mine diamonds! We called him the Brain of Robotic Intelligence and Notch Expertise, or BRINE for short. This AI had an early testing phase before we were gonna officially release him to the public. It started out as testing his talking, his speech his... his patterns, or lack of.
Most other findings could not be shown due to the media becoming lost. The only other picture we could find were worlds where people "baited" him to come forward. Stuff like trees without leaves, chunks being mined out and random houses being build in paces that don't make any sense. He's trying to do what we programed him for, being an assistant, a friend.
If it wasn't for the mass amounts of panic he caused we would see this as a win, he proved to be a great success for Mojang, but Notch saw the panic as a sign to shut down the BRINE initiative. The world only saw a monster, an entity, a villain, yet they call him a hero. "Herobrine" is what they dubbed him. So we made a trap, built a structure from gold and netherrack, luring him in so we could delete him. We almost succeeded at the plan, but he was smarter than us, way smarter. He got away, but not before we deleted his body. For now we still are on the lookout for BRINE.
